LC-HL 2025 intensive course – Sandymount

10 week Intensive Leaving Cert 2025 Higher Level Maths Preparation Course – Sandymount

When and where will the course take place?

The Course will run for 10 weeks on Tuesdays from 2:45pm to 3:45pm.

The Course will take place in the Church Hall, located beside Christ Church Sandymount. Small building to the left of the Church. The Course will start on Tuesday 18th March and run to Tuesday 27th May 2025.

We will break for one week for Easter, no class on Tuesday 22nd April.

Will the course be Exam Focused?

Yes – highly exam focused. This course is tailored for Leaving Cert Higher Level Maths Students 2025. Dara, the tutor has 8 years of experience preparing classes and individual students to excel in their Leaving Cert Maths Exam. He is expert in distilling the Leaving Cert Maths course into learnable Key Notes, explained through worked examples. This Key Notes booklet will be provided as a take home resource as part of the course. This is a succinct, clear and proven resource and it is very achievable to learn this inside out within 10 weeks.

Past Papers Questions are how we will learn this material. Dara has selected a representative portfolio of past papers questions. In each class we will work through 4-5 questions. We will discuss a question, understand the hints within a question, set a strategy, and enact the strategy to solve the question. Any of the more difficult techniques are demonstrated first, before students get a chance to practice independently. Guided, structured problem solving is the foundation of this course.

How will the course be split up between Topics and Papers?

The course will be split as the paper is split. We will work through full exam papers, going quicker through easier questions and really drilling into the more challenging topics. The first 30 mins are devoted to Paper 1, while the second 30 mins are devoted to paper 2. If we find students are more comfortable with Paper 1 (this can often be the case) we may spend 5mins longer per week on Paper 2.

We will particularly focus on the low, medium, and high-medium hanging fruit. Niche questions which were in the hardest 5% of material in a given year will not have time wasted upon them given the likelihood of them appearing again is slim. They will however be included in the 5 years worth of worked examples which students will receive for their independent study.

Who will lead the course?
